TIME AND ACCURACY MATCH
JANUARY 15, 2005 COURSE OF FIRE
In today’s match each competitor will take a total of seven shots, one shot each at the five metal plates and two gongs. There will be two black targets, two white targets, one orange target, the orange gong to the right of position 16 and the one small red gong. The targets will be placed at various distances ranging from 100 yards to 200 yards.
The match is open to any rifle (no magnums) including rifles with bipods and either iron or optical sights. No AP or steel core ammo allowed. Individuals may fire the course as often as they like.
Competitors start standing at position 9. At the signal “TIME” the shooter takes the prone position, loads two rounds and takes one shot at each of the two black targets.
After completing the prone stage the shooter immediately moves to position 15, remains standing, loads two rounds and takes one shot at the orange target and one shot at the orange gong to the right of position 16.
After completing the standing stage the shooter immediately moves to position 12, takes either a sitting or kneeling position, loads two rounds and takes one shot at each of the two white targets.
After completing the sitting stage the shooter immediately takes a prone position, loads one round and takes one shot at the small red gong.
Time begins at the initial signal and ends with the seventh shot. The score is the time to make all seven shots plus one minute added for each missed target. A shot on a wrong target is scored as a miss.
To avoid confusion the match time keeper will walk each competitor through the course while they shoot it.
GIBSON ALTERNATIVE
As an alternative, competitors may choose the “Gibson” course of fire. In the Gibson, competitors shoot the same course of fire but may load as many rounds as they wish and shoot at each target until they hit it, maximum three rounds per target.
The score is the total time to complete the course of fire plus one minute added for each target not hit within three rounds. As in the regular match all rifles MUST be unloaded with magazines out and actions open before moving between positions.
Results from the regular match and the Gibson will be listed separately.
Competitors must notify the time keeper which course of fire they will shoot BEFORE they shoot it.
